Pat CowdellOwner / Boxing CoachWith more than 25 years in the fitness industry, Pat brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Club Energy. His journey began in his youth, growing up immersed in the world of boxing—a passion that would shape his career and eventually lead him to become a gym owner. Pat’s professional interests span training, nutrition, and supplementation, with a particular focus on body composition change. Alongside his expertise in strength and conditioning, he has a deep commitment to boxing — not only as a coach and trainer, but also through his work promoting the sport. Outside the gym, Pat enjoys travelling, discovering new restaurants, and relaxing with a good film. Most of all, he values time spent with his grandchildren, who keep him smiling and grounded. |

Jo CowdellOwner / Managing DirectorAs co-owner and Club Energy’s day-to-day leader, Jo ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. With more than 15 years of experience in the fitness industry—mirroring that of her husband, Pat—she first committed fully to the sector in 2007 when they opened their first club together. While Jo’s role is primarily administrative rather than fitness floor-based, her influence is felt everywhere. She oversees the systems and operations that keep the club running efficiently and is often the first point of contact for members. Her warm approach and dedication to excellent service have helped her build strong relationships with the Club Energy community. Outside of the club, Jo enjoys travelling, reading, and long walks. Most importantly, she treasures spending quality time with her family. |

His commitment to helping members push past their limits and achieve their goals has made him a cornerstone of the Club Energy team. Beyond the gym, Ali is a passionate sportsman who enjoys playing both rugby and golf. He also treasures time spent with his young son, Oscar, who keeps him active in a whole new way. |

Her enthusiasm, professionalism, and approachable nature make her a valued member of the Club Energy team. Outside of the gym, Rhianna enjoys shopping, keeping up with her own training, and spending time with friends and family. |

Mark LishmanRehab Specialist / Personal TrainerMark is a Personal Trainer at Club Energy and serves as the team’s rehabilitation specialist. With over 10 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, he combines expertise with empathy to support members through everything from minor niggles to chronic pain. Although he originally set his sights on a legal career—graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Law—Mark soon discovered his true calling lay in health and fitness. His personal experience with physical impairments sparked a passion for rehabilitation, driving him to help others overcome setbacks and restore their strength and mobility. Outside the gym, Mark enjoys spending quality time with his wife and son, seeking out great food, and socialising with friends. |

Chris WillisPersonal TrainerChris has always been active, with a love of sport from childhood that evolved into a passion for weight training in his late teens. Now with more than 20 years of experience working in gyms, he has developed specialist knowledge across a wide range of disciplines, including bodybuilding, Thai boxing, mobility, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and HIIT/circuits. What drives Chris most is helping people go beyond their limits and achieve their goals while building fitness into their everyday lives. His mission is to empower others to feel stronger, fitter, and more confident—while showing that training can be fun, sustainable, and rewarding. Away from the gym, Chris values balance. He enjoys scenic walks, relaxing with movies, good food, and spending quality time with the people he loves. |

Sam GuestHuman Potential CoachBefore joining Club Energy, Sam ran an extreme-sports performance company in Southern Spain. When that business collapsed, he realised how much his own health mattered — physically, mentally and professionally. Sofa-bound, low on energy and watching the life he had worked for fall apart, he decided that would not be his epitaph. Sam invested tens of thousands of pounds in formal education and further personal experimentation to develop a practical, real-world model of health. Over the past five years he has used that model to help others rebuild their lives, regain energy and restore performance. |

James DugganPharmacistQualifications: Medical Aesthetics / Skin Care / Weight Loss Clinic James oversees Club Energy’s medical aesthetics, skincare, and weight loss clinic, alongside his full-time role as a clinical pharmacist in primary care with the NHS. His interest in aesthetics was first sparked in his early 20s through bodybuilding. While the connection may not be obvious to some, James recognised the parallels between the two fields: both strive for visual perfection, where even the smallest adjustments can deliver significant results. Academically, James holds an MPharm degree from the University of Nottingham and is a registered Independent Prescriber. He further honed his expertise at the prestigious SkinViva Training Academy in Manchester, founded by Dr. Tim Pearce, one of the UK’s most respected names in facial aesthetics. Outside of work, James enjoys training, relaxing with a few beers among friends, and spending time with his wife, Kate and son, Seb. He is also the proud owner of Winnie, his much-loved tan sausage dog, who keeps life lively and entertaining. |

Roxanne WilsonHousekeeperRoxanne is Club Energy’s housekeeper and also runs her own successful local cleaning business. A long-standing member of the club for more than 20 years, she has become a familiar and friendly face, building strong relationships with countless members over the years. Her reliability, trustworthiness, and dedication make her an invaluable part of the Club Energy team. Members often know they can turn to Roxanne not only for her work within the club, but also if they’re looking for a dependable housekeeper outside of it. Away from work, Roxanne enjoys socialising and spending quality time with her friends and family. |

Martin BatesonHead Boxing CoachMartin is Club Energy’s Head Boxing Coach, and the team is both proud and fortunate to have his expertise. A lifelong devotee of the sport, Martin was himself a promising amateur boxer whose potential was unfortunately cut short by persistent hand injuries. Rather than stepping away from boxing, Martin channelled his passion into coaching. Today, he is recognised as one of the premier Pro-Am boxing coaches in Yorkshire. Over the years, he has developed and mentored numerous amateur and professional champions, including Jack Bateson, Qais Ashfaq, Adil Anwar, and Damon Jones—all of whom honed their skills under his guidance. Outside of the gym, Martin enjoys spending time with his partner, Shirley, and his family. He is also an active supporter of the Northern Soul scene, where he finds relaxation and community beyond the boxing ring. |
